Differential Settlement Causes Cracks in Expensive Split-Level Home

Synopsis

Several cracks in the exterior brick veneer were found to be caused by differential settlement of the foundation. This occurred because part of the foundation was founded on loosely compacted fill that consolidated after construction of the house.
